Recall is a screenshot organizer for Android. This policy explains how we handle your information — which stays on your device.
Recall is a screenshot organizer for Android. This policy explains what information Recall handles when you import screenshots, search saved content, add notes, use optional monitoring controls, or contact support.
Recall may store references to imported screenshots, recognized text, titles, notes, intentions, collection choices and import history on your device. This information supports search, organization and the saved-detail experience. Your original images remain in your device gallery. Recall does not move them into a separate cloud library.
Recall's current core screenshot-organizing features do not require a mandatory user account.
Recall may request photo or media access so you can choose screenshots to import or enable automatic screenshot import. You decide what access to grant through Android's permission controls. If access is limited, revoked or a source image is removed, some previews or import behavior may no longer be available.
You can add screenshots manually or allow automatic import using the access you grant. Android background restrictions can affect when automatic imports appear. Supported text recognition runs on your device. Recall currently recognizes Latin-script text. Bangla text recognition and visual image understanding are not included in the current release. Search matches stored recognized text, titles and notes; it is not semantic image search.
Recall includes user controls for optional product analytics and crash diagnostics. These controls are off until enabled in the app. When enabled, limited technical usage or diagnostic information may be sent to the configured monitoring services to understand feature usage and investigate reliability issues. Analytics payloads are designed to exclude screenshots, recognized/OCR text, personal notes and search words.
Recall can help you open actions in other apps, such as a Calendar draft, the Android share sheet or a browser search. These actions leave Recall and are completed in the destination app. Information you choose to send is then handled under that app or service's own privacy terms.
If you contact support, we may receive your email address, message content, device/app details you choose to provide and any attachments you send. Please avoid sending private screenshots unless they are necessary to explain the issue. Support information is used to respond to your request and maintain appropriate support records.
Local Recall records remain on your device until you edit them, erase Recall data, clear application data or uninstall the app, subject to Android behavior. Settings → Data & privacy lets you pause automatic import and erase Recall records. Erasing Recall data does not delete the original images from your gallery. If an original source image is removed or photo access is lost, Recall may be unable to display that image preview.
Recall is not directed to children under the minimum age required by applicable law, and we do not knowingly request personal information from children.
We take reasonable measures to protect information handled through the application and support process. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
We may update this policy as Recall changes. The effective date shown on this page should be revised when material changes are published.
